"Pintô: Manhattan Manila" is the launch exhibition of Pintô International, a project aimed at increasing Filipino and other Southeast Asian contemporary artists' international visibility in the United States and Europe. The title of the show is a testament to our efforts in opening a door (pintô, in Tagalog) of dialogue and cultural exchange between East and West.
The exhibition will open on MondayMay 22nd 2017 in an astonishing venue in the West Village, Manhattan, and will be curated by Federico De Vera. The revenues of the show will benefit the Asian Cultural Council, to fund residencies for Asian artists in New York, and the foundation of the Pintô Art Museum in Antipolo, Philippines, to continue supporting the raise of young talents in contemporary art.
The group show will feature some of the most accomplished Filipino contemporary artists, including Manuel Ocampo, Elmer Borlongan, Ronald Ventura, Mark Justiniani, Jose John Santos, Rodel Tapaya, Marina Cruz, Jigger Cruz, Nona Garcia, Raffy Napay, Geraldine Javier, Dex Fernandez and Leeroy New.
