Dr. Joven R. Cuanang is a Neurologist, art collector, curator and philanthropist. Trained at Harvard Medical School, Boston, he served as Medical Director and Chairman of the Board of St Luke’s College of Medicine, Manila. Aside from his medical career, Dr Cuanang has been an instrumental figure in the birth of a Philippine contemporary art scene. In the late 80s he transformed his home in Manila and gardens in Antipolo, just east of the capital, into a residence for young underdog artists. Since then, three generations of artists raised to national and international prominence through shows in his Boston Gallery and Pintô Art Gallery. In 2010 Dr Cuanang opened his collection to the public, founding the Pintô Art Museum.
Dr. Luca Parolari is a physician, scientist and art enthusiast. Graduated summa cum laude in Medicine from the University of Bologna, he spent his training years between Bologna, Paris and Boston. In 2013, he was introduced to Dr. Joven Cuanang by a common friend and mentor Professor at Harvard Medical School. Since then, a fruitful friendship developed, that culminated with the foundation of Pintô International. While starting and running Pintô International in New York, Luca obtained a PhD in Neuroscience from the Rockefeller University under Nobel laureate Paul Greengard and Lasker awardee Jeffrey Friedman. He currently works between San Franscisco and New York, helping build start-ups in life sciences and overseeing Pintô's program in both cities and globally.
Elisa Carollo is an art curator and ISA-certified appraiser specializing in 20th-century contemporary art. Elisa holds a Master in Art, Law and Business from Christie’s, New York, and a Bachelor in Marketing and Management of Cultural and Creative Industries from IULM, Milan. For more than half a decade, Elisa has been working in the art world between New York and her native Milan. After an experience as appraiser and art advisor at Gurr Johns in NY, Elisa headed back to Italy to manage the strategy and curation of Imago Mundi, the Benetton family foundation and encyclopedic archive of global contemporary art. Elisa serves as an editor for Art She Says, sits on the advisory board of The Others Art Fair, has held numerous lectures and hosted artist interviews on different media channels. Currently living in New York, Elisa is the co-director of Pintô International’s East Village headquarters.
Curatorial Advisor
Patrick D. Flores is Professor at the Department of Art Studies at the University of the Philippines, which he chaired from 1997 to 2003, and Curator of the Vargas Museum in Manila. He is Adjunct Curator at the National Art Gallery, Singapore. He was appointed Artistic Director for the 2019 Singapore Biennale, curated the Philippines Pavilion at the 2015 Venice Biennale, and in 2018 was listed among the 100 most influential personalities in contemporary art in the world by ArtReview. Patrick also curated the Under Construction: New Dimensions in Asian Art in 2000, and the Gwangju Biennale (Position Papers) in 2008. He was a Visiting Fellow at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. in 1999 and an Asian Public Intellectuals Fellow in 2004. With Pintô International, Patrick was Curatorial Advisor for Pintô Manhattan Manila in 2017, and co-curated Pintô's exhibition in Milan with Luca Beatrice (curator of the Italian Pavilion at the 2009 Venice Biennale).
Federico De Vera is a New York-based designer and owner of DE VERA, his eponymous gallery of objects, art and jewelry in Soho, Manhattan. As a curator and installation designer, he oversaw several museum exhibitions and installations. Most notably, he designed the critically acclaimed show "Egon Schiele: Portraits" at the Neue Galerie, the German and Austrian art museum in New York City's famed Museum Mile on 5th Avenue. Author of two books, Federico De Vera was named "Master of Design" by Town & Country Magazine in 2017. With Pintô International, Federico curated Pintô Manhattan Manila in 2017.
